One of the best things about Summer is barbecues. Over the years we have tried out quite a selection including rectangular ones, round ones, portable kettle ones, disposables, gas burners, and cast iron fire pits. However, we have never owned a miniature folding barbecue.
I found this one on Amazon UK for £10. It is a Yellowstone mini pack away BBQ, and weighing less than 900g, it is small enough to carry on a walk to a picnic spot. This one even came with a neat carry bag. It works with regular charcoal, which I carry in a zip lock bag, along with a fire lighter tab. Although the grill is only 16.5 x 22cm, we were able to cook plenty for 2 people, including burgers, and lamb chops.
Being small it is very economical on fuel, yet the grill stays hot for much longer than a disposable aluminium BBQ. You can’t adjust the height of the grill, so it’s best not to add huge lumps of charcoal. Cooking over a slightly thinner layer of hot coals will help you to avoid burning the food.
The verdict: we love it!
