This is the stone circle at Castlerigg near Keswick in Cumbria, North West England. Among the earliest British circles, it was raised in about 3000 BC during the Neolithic period.
We were awe struck by its incredible atmosphere, and panoramic views. The mountains of Helvellyn and High Seat create a dramatic backdrop. On a chilly February afternoon we were lucky enough to have the circle to ourselves.
If you are visiting the Lake District, this impressive prehistoric monument is definitely worth seeing!
